Breakfast Club News
A Parent Breakfast was held on Wednesday 19th February in the Early Childhood Centre. Special thanks to the C3 Church and the Whitehouse Community Church who provided the breakfast. The morning gave parents the opportunity to share breakfast with their child and meet staff members and other parents.
After the breakfast Louise Thorne and Jenny from Foodbank held a parent information session on nutrition. Research has shown that a child’s diet can impact on their ability to concentrate and learn. The session included sharing and demonstrating food ideas that are nutritious, inexpensive and appeal to children for lunches and morning tea. Parents participated in hands-on cooking and allowed to taste each dish. They were given recipes to take home and try out on their family.
Feedback from parents was very positive and many came away with helpful hints and informed choices in regards to food and the preparation for healthy eating.
Another Parent Breakfast will be organised in Term 2 and parents will be advised
of the details at a later date.
